Humane Education Network - Essay/Video Contest

Official Rules

This year A Voice for Animals contest has two sections: for 14-15 year old students and 16-18 year old students:

  • You are strongly advised to read all the rules!
  • Entrants in the 14-15 year old section are invited to write an essay that addresses either the mistreatment of one animal species or one cause of animal suffering, or the preservation of one species threatened with extinction, occurring anywhere in the world, and potential solutions to the issue.
  • Entrants in the 16-18 year old section must become involved in a project(new or pre-existing) that addresses either the mistreatment of one animal species or one cause of animal suffering, or the preservation of one species threatened with extinction, occurring anywhere in the world. Students must submit either 1) a written essay with accompanying photos or 2) an original video.

Humber College International Entrance Scholarships
Humber offers renewable full and partial tuition scholarships to NEW international students beginning classes in September and January of each year.

York University International Student Scholarship Program 
International students who have an excellent academic record and admitted to York University are eligible for scholarships worth $60,000 – $100,000 for a four-year degree program.

American University Scholarships
American University (AU) awards a limited number of generous partial merit scholarships to academically-qualified incoming international first-year undergraduate students.  No need-based financial aid is available to international students. The merit scholarship range from U.S.$6,000 to U.S.$22,000 per academic year (renewable subject to conditions). The University also offers the AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship Program which awards scholarships to high-achieving international students who wish to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree at the University and who are dedicated to positive civic and social change. It is intended for students who will be to returning home to improve under-resourced, underserved communities in his/her home country.

Amherst College Scholarships
Amherst College currently runs a need-based financial aid program that provides assistance to financially needy international students.  Once you have been admitted, your financial need is determined. A financial aid award that is equal to your need will then be offered.  The award is sometimes called an “aid package” because it may include both self-help (employment) and gift aid (scholarships and grants).

Arkansas University Scholarships
International students are eligible to apply about 10 scholarships offered at the University including the Chancellor’s Scholarship and the General University Scholarships.

2015 East Meets West International Essay Competition

How have your cultural views changed in today's globalized society? The 2015 East Meets West International Essay Competition seeks to provide an intellectual and creative forum that empowers young voices and broadens the dialogue on cultural awareness and exchange. The competition is open to all high school and college students. 

The Grand Prize winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize. Cash prizes are also included with Gold, Silver, and Bronze awardees in the High School and College divisions. Additional Special Award certificates will also be awarded.
